Human Resource Assistant

SUMMARYThe Human Resources Assistant is responsible for providing day to day administrative support to the HR operation.
This person must communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of employees.
This position assists in the administration of the worker's compensation program, manages process and procedure in the area of pre-employment, onboarding, I-9, and document compliance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To Perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential function.
Maintains individuals Workers Compensation files.
Keep records/files of active and inactive claims.
Serves as a liaison between Employees, Safety, and Compensation Insurance Carrier and Physicians.
Corresponds with employee including doctors and work site including verification of accuracy on claims.
Track all approved time off due to job-related injury to verify Workers Compensation pay and request buy back of paid leave from the Payroll Department.
Manages new hire processing for all exempt and non-exempt employees.
Conduct new employee orientations; administer pre-employment tests, conduct reference checks.
Timely responds to reference checks, unemployment claims, and verifications of employment status.
Assists HR team with HR projects.
Assists with benefits administration and compliance reporting.
Run reports as required.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS The individual may be asked to perform other duties as requested.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESMust have strong computer skills including, Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent priority and time management skills, and able to meet deadlines efficiently.
Exceptional follow-up skills.
Perform duties with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Respond to associates questions/concerns in a courteous, pleasant manner.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONSHigh school diploma required.
3-5 years administrative experience, preferably in Human Resources.
2-3 years worker's compensation experience.

The individual will work in an office setting in the same room as other individuals.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
