Summary
The Painter applies paint, varnish and other finishes or wall coverings to decorate and protect interior and exterior building surfaces at all MHM/MHS facilities in Memphis.

REQUIRED:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Knowledge of painting and finishing techniques and methods as might be acquired through 2 years experience as a painter.
Possession of a valid drivers license.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations as would be acquired through completion of high school.
- Ability to communicate verbally with co-workers and the ability to read and follow instructions as would be required through completion of high school.
- Ability to organize tasks and maintain control of work flow.
- Knowledge of proper materials and equipment required for preparation of surfaces and application of painting techniques.
- Must be able to pass a DOT background check based on work facility.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Receives and prioritizes work orders and creates materials list.
- Applies specified finishing products to surfaces in a timely and quality manner.
- Prepares different surfaces for painting, finishing techniques and materials and cleans and repairs tools and equipment.
- Demonstrates effective customer service skills promoting a positive work environment and contributes to the overall team effort.
- Understands and applies all policies, procedures and standards.
- Demonstrates safe work practices and visibly leads other Associates in supporting a strong safety culture.
Physical Requirements
- Exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
- Occasionally exposed to excessive heat or cold due to occasional work outdoors.
- Exposure to high levels of noise.
- Occasionally must react quickly to emergency situations.
- Occasional travel outside the hospital.
- Ability to read and write to communicate orally and in writing with other individuals.
- Normal hearing and vision, including color and peripheral vision.
- Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, climb ladders/scaffolding, squat, kneel, crawl, reach, bend and twist throughout the shift.
- Ability to use hands and feet together for repetitive, coordinated motions as well as perform repetitive hand and wrist motion.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motion, with good hand-eye coordination.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
