Data and OpEx Improvement Manager (Sylvamo)

This position is currently located in the IP organization, assigned to the Sylvamo project, and will be transferred to the Sylvamo organization contingent upon the closing of the transaction estimated to occur 10/1/2021.

Work systematically and closely with all mills and Technology SMEs to continuously improving performance through effective identification of gap s and opportunities, incorporating best practices and processes to impact bottom line in a continuous and sustainable manner.
The DOI manager should have extensive experience, knowledge at all areas of Pulp, Paper, Reliability and work with team members and site SMEs on efficiency improvements.
Work proactively and closely with BUMs, APMs and other professionals across Sylvamo mills globally.
It is expected high level of collaboration and cooperation among mill professionals and Technology SMEs to effectively develop/implement operational and strategic goals and achieve targets:
Safely, On Schedule or earlier, On Budget or better and ensure the overall Performance is as expected or better.
The overall performance includes:
Reliability, Quality, Competitive cost, and Systematize learning/procedures to drive continuous improvement toward customer focus and business strategies.

Key
Responsibilities:

  • Safety:
    Act as role model, actively sharing Safety and Environmental experiences across the globe to advise and support sites efforts to sustain a culture of prevention, team work and care about each other, achieve and sustain injury free workplace.
  • Collaborative Global Support:
    Stay proactively connected with process area leaders at mills and team members to understand short, mid and long term needs and opportunities to continuously improve performance.
    Jointly identify and implement actions to systematically eliminate Physical, Human and LATENT gaps in a sustainable manner.
    Jointly support the production areas implementation of effective actions to deliver sales volumes, properly attend customers expectations, quality to drive company profitability goals.
  • Integrated Efforts:
    Ensure close work with all other Process, Reliability and other Technology SMES to integrate actions that can maximize potential benefits and guarantee holistic approach and no competitive initiatives are implemented across the mill system which may negatively impacting the overall business bottom line.
    The goal is ALL WIN TOGETHER, not a specific area is doing very well and other struggling as impact of one area success .
  • Continuous Development:
    Support new products development, trial plans, performance evaluation and support needed initiative to optimize the production process.
    At same time, continuously work on your individual development (Technical and Leadership) focused on best practices tools and methods like Lean Six Sigma, Data Analysis and Modeling, Power BI, Disruptive Technologies, MOF, Leadership best practices, 360 Feedback, among others.
  • Workforce Performance:
    Closely work with mill personnel to identify needed training, personal and teams development in a permanent base and beyond GMTI certification, use airlines pilot training which are constantly under training, scenario drills/simulations and prepared to perform flawless when the real situation requires.
    Training do not ends with certification, it just starts.
  • Customers Internal & External:
    Partner and team work with other SMEs and all company areas to support mills efforts develop outstanding focus on quality and customers at all levels.
    Support efforts to establish each processes key products-quality performance and establish sustainable working practices (procedures, SOPs, TCC, training, refresh and drills for most impactful/critical scenarios to avoid upsets and prevent failures at all levels and incorporate into workforce culture the importance and value of BASIC CARE discipline, attention to details, aiming to be brilliant on basics and capability to identify issues on early phases and before they become significant, chronic and impactful.
  • Innovation:
    Stay connected globally connected with vendors, OEMs, site and business teams to evaluate, validate and propose new technologies, processes, tools to attend eventual market/customers needs and when appropriate, support the implementation at site level.
  • Data Analysis:
    Continuous personal development and teams-site resources to enhance capability to use updated and elaborated data analysis techniques which support the site have full capability to troubleshoot > 90 % of coming issues, capture learnings and continuously work to implement systems that can identify, escalate and predict failures before they become significant or catastrophic.
    Foster and support daily efforts to become:
    FASTER-AGILE, BETTER, CHEAPER.
  • Improvements:
    Partner with all sites and areas to identify, prioritize, develop and implement initiatives that impact the bottom line making teams, sites and businesses more successful.
    Intensify efforts and application of improvement techniques like Lean-Six Sigma, Variability Reduction to aim drive > 75 % improvements through non capital solutions and when capital is the only solution the implemented projects always exceed expectations from day one.
  • Company Culture:
    Know and communicate the company Mission, Vision, Principles and overall company CULTURE through all layers.

Knowledge and
Experience:

  • Greater than 15 years experience with Pulp.
    Paper and/or Maintenance processes from wood through paper converting areas, which could include:
    • Management/operations experience at Pulp, Paper or Maintenance areas of P&P industry.
    • Experience with major P& P industry OEMs
    • Lean-Six Sigma / continuous improvement organization/cultures.
    • Process engineering/control roles at Pulp & Paper mills
  • Required Degree:
    Engineering/Technical college degree.
    Pulp & Papermaking skills courses.
  • Desired Degree:
    Pulp & Paper Specialization TAPPI / ABTCP/Others.
  • Data analysis, Lean Six Sigma, PDCA, RCFA and Troubleshooting skills

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
