Treasury Management Product Developer

Reporting to a Treasury Management Team Leader, this position is primarily responsible for assisting with the development of products managed by the Treasury Management (TM) Product Team. This position executes on the strategies put in place by Product Managers. The priorities will be established by the TM Product Team Leaders.
The Product Developer is expected to become a subject matter expert for a set of traditional and innovative Treasury Management products and therefore able to write business requirements based on the objectives for new products or product enhancements. This position should also be able to explain or present these requirements to other team members, critical stakeholders and executive management to attain their buy-in for the development of the product and to properly evaluate the risk associated with the new initiative. These other stakeholders may include representatives from technology, risk management, operations, compliance, marketing, sales, customer service and executive management.
The Product Developer will assist in the creation of project justification documents to communicate the reasons the bank should commit the resources required to embark on the recommended projects. This includes an understanding of the industry and its competitors as well as the financial analysis used to outline the potential returns.
The Product Developer must also test the outcome of the development work of these same team members. That is, verify that the programming work done by technology operates as specified in the design document, or that work done by marketing delivers the message we are trying to convey.
Certain projects do not have an assigned Project Manager, so this position will serve in that capacity for those projects as well. This means ensuring that all the proper stakeholders are included in pertinent meetings and updating the team on the outcome of meetings and managing scope changes to projects to ensure new development is delivered on time and within the approved budget.
The Product Developer must be able to work in a fast paced environment, collaborating daily with other team members and areas of the bank, including Bank Operations, Fulfillment, the Business Service Center, Risk Management, Legal, Compliance and Procurement (among others) to establish efficient processes for establishing, implementing, maintaining and managing the products developed.
This position helps to evaluate the selection of vendors or other third parties that will help the bank produce high quality product offerings. Assisting with the management of Service Level Agreements with both in-house suppliers and external vendors is an additional duty.
This position may be called upon to assist with training the sales and services team in the features and functions of the product and ensures that product changes are communicated through the Business Service Center, marketing and sales. This position may also be called on to assist and/or coordinate occasional requests from compliance, audit, and risk.
The Product Developer will work on multiple products and likely several projects simultaneously. At any time they might be assigned to work with a different Project or Product manager depending on the need to complete a project at that time. Which product the developer will work on will be based on his/her availability, experience and desire to learn about other product sets within the department.RequirementsBachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Product Development, Product Management, Bank Product Design and/or Development
The candidate will understand the basics of accounting and finance principles, the banking industry, and process improvement concepts. He/she will also possess a broad understanding of the technology used in today's financial systems including internet based information systems, databases, object oriented programming languages, software testing techniques and project management skills.
Of specific interest is experience in designing improved processes in an office environment which necessitates an understanding of related technologies, as well as business culture dynamics and human behavior.
The Product Developer will possess an understanding of the operation and function of bank products, have experience with customer service, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
The candidate must possess the underlying skills and have a working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of Office products to create spreadsheets for complex financial analysis, PowerPoint for customer and management presentations, Visio diagrams for flow charting and a variety of Word documents that include marketing copy, training manuals, business requirements documents, memos and letters.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Ability to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the treasury management business including applicable industry issues, regulation, major industry contributors etc.
Solid knowledge Treasury Management products, including an awareness of the industry standards that guide them (Reg. CC, Reg. E, NACHA Rules, EDI standards and BAI files). An understating of the technology deployed in banking products is important as is an awareness of the major vendors that supply services to the treasury management banking community.
A good understanding of and ability to communication the FirstPower culture. Understanding of the Hogan DDA system, the ALS Loan system, back office bank operations and the operation of cash management products.
