Additional Position Information The Assistant Vice President, Campus Safety and Security is the university's most senior executive accountable for the development and oversight of strategies relating to the protection of people and property.
In cooperation with the organization's executive leadership team(s), directs the development of an effective strategy to safeguard the university.
The AVP directs staff in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining security processes, practices, and policies throughout the organization to reduce risks, respond to incidents, and limit exposure and liability.
The AVP maintains relationships with high-level officials in law enforcement to include, local, state, national and international agencies and private sector counterparts.
Benefits of Employment (Applies to full-time, non-police employees only) Job Duties Duties & Responsibilities Oversees administration for all Police Services activities, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and audit responses while adhering to all University policies and procedures.
Reviews crime statistics for the University and reports them to the TN Bureau of Investigation via (TBIRS) and Department of Education (Clery Act) in partnership with the Chief of Police.
Provides follow-up information of incidents and crimes to the Executive Director of Safety, Business Continuity and Risk Management and the university executive team.
Prepares RFPs or RFQs and participates in the procurement process as necessary for police and security services and equipment.
Reviews, updates, and makes recommendations for safety and security policies.

Provides accurate and timely information to the media and the public during critical incidents or emergencies.
Represents police services in meetings, conferences, and public events.
