65/Monthly THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITIONJob Summary/Essential Job Functions:
The Senior Scientific Writer functions as an expert in developing, writing, drafting, grant submission, and scientific manuscripts for publication for the Tennessee Population Health Consortium (TN-PHC) and the Center for Health System Improvement (CHSI).
DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Assists investigators with communicating research findings through the preparation of scientific manuscripts and other written content.
Reviews and edits scientific manuscripts written for publication.
Serves as grant expert for TN-PHC by working closely with scientists and research team to translate research goals and objectives into grant proposals.
Generates proposals and supporting documents and contributes to pilot data collection and research.
Assists with literature review, bibliography, reports, and presentation preparation for faculty and affiliated faculty.
Oversees junior scientific writers in developing and preparing scientific manuscripts for publication including literature review, bibliography, reports, and presentation preparation.
Coordinates and leads timely submission of well-researched, well-written and well-documented grant proposals.
Identifies public and private grant and funding opportunities using research tools and disseminates this information to faculty.
Engages with program officers at organizations to solicit invitations to submit proposals and refine proposal submissions.
Assist the Communications Lead in coordination of the website, newsletter, social media accounts, and other communications for the CHSI and TN-PHC.
Assists in the development of press releases and newsletters for the CHSI and TN-PHC.
Serves as a liaison for the Executive Director and the University with community and government officials, faculty, and other key community partners to facilitate communication regarding research and initiatives involving the CHSI and TN-PHC Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree.
(Master's Degree in Scientific discipline preferred).
(TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
Experience:
Seven (7) years experience in technical/scientific writing, communications, public relations, grant writing, or a related field OR Master's Degree and five (5) years of experience in technical/scientific writing, communications, public relations, grant writing, or a related field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality content on a tight deadline.
Familiarity with scientific publishing and peer review processes.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
Understanding of quantitative and qualitative research techniques and methodologies.
Advanced knowledge of computer applications, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, Endnote, and Cayuse.
Knowledge of funding agency guidelines and requirements.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This position may be occasionally required to work evenings and weekends.
