The Specialist - Attendance Engagement position reports to the Office of SEED and works under the general direction of the Sr.
Manager - Enrollment, Registration, Attendance.
This position is responsible for maintaining accurate attendance, daily reconciliation, ADM and truancy data at a specified school location to ensure state and federal compliance.
Essential Job Functions:
Processes and reconciles daily attendance codes in PowerSchool on behalf of all teachers at a specified school location.
Monitors chronic absenteeism rates and student populations to proactively facilitate positive attendance and enrollment practices.
Collaborates with Central Office, as needed, to examine and correct attendance and enrollment data for forecasting and strategic planning.
Assists parents and students with daily attendance challenges affecting ADM; Initiates the tiered intervention process to remove attendance barriers.
Assists students and families in maintaining regular attendance and identifies students that are truant or at-risk of being truant; Monitors and tracks attendance data in the PowerSchool, ensuring truancy data is documented.
Acts as a primary liaison between school and Central Office, serving as direct point-of-contact to troubleshoot issues, provide guidance and address questions related to common enrollment/attendance issues (e.
g.
, PowerSchool, PowerSchool Enrollment).
Effectively communicates policies and procedures, as well as interpreting and understanding of the federal, state, and local laws, to internal and external stakeholders.
Maintains documentation to comply with local, state, and federal audits and compliance requirements.
Assists in the preparation of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, correspondence and files related to the assigned service activities and operations.
Communicates and collaborates with appropriate external stakeholders concerning student attendance and enrollment status.
Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Preferred graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in related field; PLUS two (2) years related experience in related field; OR an equivalent combination or related education and experience totaling six (6) years.
(PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED) Degree Equivalency Formula:
Bachelor's Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master's Degree=6 years plus required years of experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of state law, codes and protocols that pertain to attendance and enrollment pedagogy Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to swiftly and accurately understand complex data and perform analysis Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage daily tasks without losing sight of long-term goals and planning.
Working knowledge of and ability to research and understand regulatory changes, guidelines and compliance Strong analytical and organizational skills, good judgment, and initiative Ability to evaluate information, perform analysis and prepare written and oral recommendations Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships Ability to coordinate multiple priorities Ability to operate a computer, use appropriate software applications and office equipment Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
Physical Demands:
Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment.
Unavoidable Hazards:
The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
