Assignments typically combine the collecting and listing of business ownership data with an increased understanding and appreciation of how such data is relevant to the valuation of personal property.
Pay Grade:
44 Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education Minimum Qualifications 100.
00% - 1.
Three (3) years of experience in the personal property and/or assessment field; and graduation from a high school or possess a GED; OR 2.
One (1) year of practical experience in the real estate and/or assessment field; and two (2) years of college study (60 semester hours or 72 quarters) from an accredited college or university in real estate, accounting, finance, business administration or related field.

An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.

PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities 1.
Assists with interviewing taxpayers, investigating, and gathering data required to determine the value of personal property.
2.
Assist in preparing reports of facts pertinent to determining value.
3.
Assumes increasingly independent responsibilities for determining values for tax purposes.
4.
Records factual information and comments on appraisal forms.
5.
Assists with conducting physical site inspection.
6.
Assists in explaining assessment procedure and determinations to taxpayers.
7.
Participates in preparing and maintaining assessment records.
8.
Performs other related duties as required or directed.
KSA's KSAs - 1.
Knowledge of methods and procedures used in tax appraisal.
2.
Knowledge of state and local laws and regulations concerning tax appraisal.
3.
General knowledge of real estate principles and practices.
4.
Knowledge of factors involved in valuation of real and personal property.
5.
Ability to conduct field interviews and inspections.
6.
Ability to gather and analyze complex data for tax assessment purposes.
7.
Ability to keep records and make clear and accurate reports.
8.
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and the public.
9.
Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
10.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Special Requirements 1.
Must possess a valid Tennessee driver license or secure one by date of employment.
2.
Must have access to an operable automobile and meet Shelby County's requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment.
