Physician (Palliative Care)

Duties include but are not limited to:
o Provide physician services, clinical input and oversight for all patient treatment plans consistent with hospice and palliative care philosophy. o Improve access to Hospice and Palliative care as experienced by patients, their families and providers. o Amplify the awareness of the concepts, role and availability of Hospice and Palliative Care services among ambulatory, home-based, specialty and acute care clinicians. Facilitate access to appropriate supportive care services. o Consult with attending staff as requested so that symptom management for patients is effectively and expeditiously accomplished. o Complete full and appropriate documentation of patience care services. o Actively contribute to the educational experience for medical students, residents, fellows and Nurse Practitioners assigned to Hospice and Palliative Care. o Collaborates with other VA Palliative Care leaders, VISN leadership, and VA Central office on program development issues. o Updates, monitors and promotes compliance with VA regulations to include updates for changes in applicable VA memos, directives and guidelines. o Collaborates with community home health and hospice agencies as needed for Palliative Care patients currently under his/her care. o Maintain an active license to practice Medicine and all related credentials within the VA Medical Center of Memphis, o Attain and provide information about federal, state, and local regulations and codes applicable to Hospice and Palliative Care programs, applicable to the Joint Commission (JC), and the professional service and administrative requirement and expectations of third party payers. o Improves patient outcomes through the implementation of strategies such as clinical practice guidelines and critical pathways, health risk assessments, provider profiling use of electronic medical record and clinical reminders, and case management. o Effectively communicates with service employees, patients and their families, employees from other services, stake holders, the Executive Leadership team, the VISN and VACO staff when required. o Other duties as assigned. United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Experience:
American Board certification in Hospice & Palliative Medicine. If not currently board certified, the expectation is to become board certified in Hospice & Palliative Medicine within two years of employment Reference:

Physicians should be physically and mentally capable to perform the examinations, formulate the diagnosis and treatment plan. Physical activity includes sitting, standing (for up to 2 hours), walking (up to 2 hours), heavy lifting (intermittently, 45 lbs or over), reaching above the shoulder, and repeated bending. Physician should be emotionally and mental stable and capable of performing the duties of the position.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
