About the Position: This position is located in US Army Engineering District, Operations Division, Yards & Docks duty station Memphis, TN. Works under the supervision of the Yards and Docks Foreman who issues instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines, and relies on the incumbent to assure that work assignments are carried out by other members of the group. Supervisor is available to provide information or decisions regarding problems that may arise during work.
Due to responsibility as a relief crane operator must possess a crane certification from an accredited crane certification agency with Large designation in the practical exam and Lattice Boom Crawler designation for the written exam or possess qualification by a USACE qualifying official on Link Belt Crawler type crane with 100 ton rating capacity.
NOTE: Tankermans License required. If not in possession at time of appointment, selectee will have one year from placement in position to acquire. Failure to obtain will result in a reassignment, change to lower grade or removal from Federal Service.

Checks work in progress and when finished, checks for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence procedures, methods, and deadlines. Urges or advises other employees to follow supervisor's instructions and to meet deadlines; demonstrates proper work methods. Answers workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (e.g., technical orders); obtains needed information or decisions from the supervisor on problems that come up during the work. Provides information to the supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees). Incumbent works along with other workers, setting the pace.
May serve as a relief Crane Operator. Operates heavy engineering and construction equipment. Operates a motor patrol grader to construct roadways and ditches. Operates a bulldozer in finish grading upper banks and slopes; removing stumps and debris; clearing right of ways and trees; using winch attachments and cables; constructing drainage ditches for upper and over bank protection; preparation and construction of boat ramps and to construct roadways. Operates front-end loader to load material.
Work is performed on flat to rolling terrain, on steep banks and hills, and near drop-offs. Operates to grade stakes set by surveyors and engineers in grading; cutting crown, front and back slopes on drainage ditches; debris removal; and similar fine grade.
Performs operator maintenance and completes operating reports. Operates motor vehicles which typically have a gross weight of more than 32,000 lbs and may have up to 10 forward gears to transport or tow loads of construction material, concrete mattress or construction equipment to various locations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Reliability and Dependability as an Engineering Equipment Operator Leader
Physical Effort: Heavy physical effort is used constantly in reaching, bending, turning and moving hands, arms, feet and legs to handle controls. Regularly lifts objects weighing more than 40 pounds. Considerable strain, jerking, and jolting is caused by the constant vibration of equipment. Frequently works in awkward or strained positions.
Working Conditions: Work is performed outside in all types of weather, in open cabs, on all types of terrain. Incumbent is subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from motor and exhaust. Drives equipment in all types of weather and is exposed to injury due to possible overturning of equipment. Subject to the possibility of serious accidents and to cuts, bruises, and broken bones. Exposed to noise levels above 85dBA and requires use of hearing protective devices.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
