Job Description
The Director of Operational Accounting will work under the general direction of the Controller to direct key processes for operational accounting and help provide leadership within the overall Accounting Department. The Director will be part of the Accounting team that works to oversee and ensure accounting quality for the company as a whole.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Produces and oversees analysis, entry creation, and reconciliation of key operational accounting processes including Utilities, Concessions, and related items.
Acts as communications point between operations and accounting to create communication lines between the two areas that result in better service provided to operations and provides and implements accounting solutions using operational knowledge for more efficient and effective accounting processes and analysis of operational results.
Works with the Accounting team and IT Departments to identify and develop solutions for accounting processes.
Prepares and reviews accounting documentation over the company's key processes.
Participates in Director Team accounting meetings that provides oversight and ensures overall accounting quality of the company.
Performs and reviews various entries, reconciliations, and documentation projects within the accounting department.
Performs special accounting system implementation and quality review projects as directed by the Controller.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Thorough knowledge of GAAP
Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and related 404 Controls
Ability to analyze complex accounting processes and determine solutions
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Effective communication skills
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting and seven years of public and corporate accounting experience. Active CPA.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Experience in Real Estate Accounting
