The State Group is seeking a Senior Buyer to work on a 2-4 year, $500M project in Stanton, TN with continued opportunities at the conclusion of the project.
This project will provide immediate once-in-a-lifetime career learning and growth, as well as future promotional opportunities within The State Group.
Under the direction of the US Purchasing Manager, the Senior Buyer provides supply chain and purchasing support, specializing in electrical and/or mechanical construction.
This position informally mentors the purchasing activities of others and leads the buying function for the project.
This position regularly interfaces with and provides subject matter expert knowledge and support to corporate Project Managers, Estimators, and other operations personnel, and professionally represents The State Group with vendors, customers, employees, and other stakeholders.

WHAT YOU WILL DO Request quotations (RFQ) from vendors and subcontractors for estimating all trades, including electrical and mechanical, to meet closing dates.
Determine or negotiate contract terms and conditions, award supplier contracts, or recommend contract awards.
Submit quotes to the Estimator as soon as received and review them to ensure specifications and materials are correctly quoted.
Collaborate with the Project Manager and project team upon award of a project.
Ensure all ordered materials are delivered to the job site in a quality and timely manner.
Manage the submittal, approval process, and delivery schedule of major equipment with the project team.
Purchase general and specialized equipment, materials, and subcontractor services for construction projects.
Review plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure the correct equipment, materials, and subcontractor services are ordered and/ or purchased.
Ensure all purchasing activities and personal behaviors are compliant with the Code of Business Conduct as well as other corporate, financial, and regulatory requirements.
WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM 5
years of construction purchasing, estimating, or other relevant experience in the electrical or construction field.
Candidates with an electrical background are preferred.
High School Diploma.
Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree in a related field and/or professional purchasing certifications.
Proficient with MS Excel and purchasing database systems.
Ability to clearly communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
